Strathmere is located in North Gower Ontario just 40mins from the main city of Ottawa. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that has everything from the get ready to the reception then I highly recommend this venue

Here are 5 reasons why you should book Strathmere as your Ottawa wedding venue!

1. EVERYTHING AT THE VENUE

Having a wedding venue that has everything can make a big difference when it comes to keeping your wedding day on time and stress free. Strathmere has a get ready location for the bride and groom. Both locations have a lot of natural light coming in which means you'll get some really nice aesthetically pleasing wedding photos. The ceremony space depending on which one you book is about 2mins to 5mins away from where you would get ready.

2. GREAT CEREMONY SPACES

Strathmere offers 3 locations for weddings. I haven't shot at one of them yet, but I have filmed weddings at the farmhouse and the lodge, both of which are very nice and have unique features. If you choose this venue for your wedding, I suggest the outdoor setup. They have a backup option in case it rains, but I believe the outdoor area with slatted brick, twinkle lights, and a wooden arch creates a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photos and video. While most brides prefer sunny weather on their wedding day, I think this venue looks really nice with a cloudy sky. I photographed a wedding there this year that I particularly liked because of the cloudy atmosphere.

3. SCENIC PORTRAIT SESSION LOCATIONS

Strathmere has several cool spots for family photos and portraits. There is a small garden with a wooden arch next to the get ready location. Brides often use this spot to capture shots of the bridal party lined up together because it has ample space and a beautiful backdrop of plants and greenery. The Garden House venue also has a smaller garden, but it is a great spot for portraits of you and your spouse. Another spot is near The Lodge where you can take photos on a swing. Next to the swing, there is a space with rocks and a brick building. It's worth mentioning that all these spots can also be used for a great first look location if you decide to do that.

4. RECEPTION SPACES

The Garden House and The Lodge both have indoor spaces for the reception. The Garden House has a modern and elegant feel with white walls, while The Lodge has a rustic vibe with wooden elements. Both venues have outdoor settings with brick floors that double as a dance floor during the reception. At night, twinkle lights illuminate the dance floor in both spaces.

5. THE SPA RETREAT (Coming Soon)

Even though it is currently not available, Strathmere has a spa retreat on their premises in a separate building. This would provide a one-of-a-kind experience on a wedding day or morning. Once this place is fully finished, I will update this review to give you a better idea of what this space has to offer.
